About This Blog

 So I’m heading back to Bend tomorrow to host the “Shred with Laurenne” camp at Bachelor (begins on Saturday). I’m teaming up with Mt. Bachelor, Shred, Atomic and The Race Place to put on the camp. Ted Ligety is also joining me for the weekend, so there will definitely be some speed and ripping involved. We’re going to set up some GS gates, but it’s up to the campers whether we train or free ski…. either way, we’re gonna tear it up.

There are two separate weekends of Shred camp….first weekend with Ted is full, but there are a few spots left in weekend #2. Check it out here. You can also get the details on my website: laurenneross.com

Shred and Atomic are giving out some free gear at the camp, and spots are limited (12 per weekend), so most everybody will take home some sweet swag: junior helmets, goggles, Atomic all-mountain skis, shirts, hats, and more.

THANK YOU to SHRED, MT. BACHELOR, ATOMIC, and THE RACE PLACE! Check out the details and come rip with me, Ted and Shred over the next two weekends at Mt Bachelor!!!

short update:

Tuff season start! Three days ago I almost died. Thx to Steve, CK and Beckna for telling us that a barbed wire fence was crossing our landing! I was shocked when I saw the two meter metal poles 10cm under the snow!

I had some intense days with Grilo so I rested two days before I drove to Zillertal on Sunday! The thing with resting days is that the pain is coming out! So I had already back pain when I got to Zillertal and on the first day shooting I twisted again my back super bad so that I had to ride and jump with super back pain! So my body is kind of fucked now and I need some more resting days and some therapy!

Thx to Werni, Christian, Mau and Justin for some nice but intense three days!

stay tuned!

Here are some pics of the kicker and the landing area that had the metal stakes and barbed wire… ohhh boy, Marco Feichtner, you one lucky SOB!

For many of us, the season was a bit of a bust. If you lived up in Whistler or you’re at the level of a Romain de Marchi or JP Solberg and get to travel wherever the conditions are tip top, then you may have experienced scenes like this from YES It’s a Movie…

It’s been a while since I’ve been updating you… Not much time in front of the computer, instead tons of time spending outdoors in the mountains… So a lot of things happened…

Recently I just came back from a film/fototrip from Morocco… It’s been a blast, so many impressions in such a short period of time… There’s a video coming out in autumn, so I’ll keep you posted about that… As the story also will be published in various Ski magazines just a glimpse…

still some hours to go... hiking in the Atlas mountains to finally ski African snow...

Finally the video of my skisponsors teamweek, where I’m also part of it, is online…

It’s April now and thank goodness there is still lots of snow in the mountains… Just got 20 cm fresh yesterday… So what to do? Of course, SHREDDING :-)

Here some impressions from the day…

from the helmcam perspective...

...booom... Babycliff...

fresh pow :-)

Hiked a pretty impressive colouir the other day – here’s the video how it was…

Enjoy the rest of the winter! Summer will be here soon…

Take care and all the best,

Mel:-)

As the 2012 winter competition season comes to a close the United States Ski Association, the United States Ski Team and Ski Racing magazine have come together to announce the year end National Ski Awards.

Patrick has been named the male United States Freestyle Skier of the Year.

As a proud Cle Elum family that has watched their son and brother train and compete his heart out this year learning that Patrick has been named the male US Freestyle Skier of the year is very exciting and rewarding.

Our family is so very happy we can share this award with all of our friends and supporters within our small community and those from around the country.

Thanks for all of the support.

For the last several years Shred has joined Ski Racing Development and World Cup Supply in the “Fast Skier” Junior Alpine Scholarship Fund, in which young athletes can send us their applications to win a $1000 as well as gear from Shred, SRD and WCS. We are looking for athletes that are driven not just on the slopes but in school and as members of their communities.

Interested athletes may find the application by visiting: www.junioralpinescholarship.com. The application deadline is May 25, 2012. Questions can be sent to: info@worldcupsupply.com – please write “Scholarship” in the subject line.

Ted loves to Shred. He's an Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion ski racer, all-mountain ripper and loves to push his body's limits.

We’ve said it before and will say it again… when you receive images like this from your athletes, you can’t help but get inspired. Here Roman Kuss from Austria sends us some random goodies from his late season action. What more could you want?

  • sweet pow;
  • heli access;
  • newspaper/ magazine coverage;
  • a ton of amazing memories.

He promises a more extensive portfolio, which we’re stoked to see. Thanks, Roman! Keep rippin’ it up.

The other day I received from a Shred partner out in Latvia who wrote in about Shred action in his part of the world:

Here’s a pic of our racer Katrina Krumina in GS action. She won the Silver Medal of the Baltic Cup which was organized in Finland – Somutunturi last week. This is event where more then 100 racers from three Baltic states – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are contesting for the Alpine Ski National Championships and for the Baltic Cup overall.

This reminds us that there’s a lot of action going on all over the world, wherever people love to shred. Congratulations Katrina!
