Matt Schaer sent this vid in to us the other day. I don’t think we need any words to describe that action.

Austria is sinking in snow and since 40 years there hasn’t been so much snow until that time of the year… Teamrider Mel Presslaber

sent us some impressions from the past weeks including a video from last weeks Teamweek from her skisponsor Fischer…

Enjoy!

Describe Your Image – The SG race was cancelled but me and my buddy didn’t let us bother about it, we just took our skis and had some fun in the fresh snow. This picture describes perfectly why I love to shred- because it feels like I’m flying!

Red Bull and Travis Rice have selected the 16 snowboarders who have accepted invitations to the first ever Red Bull Supernatural at Baldface Lodge near Nelson, B.C., Canada. The competitors invited are all riders on the forefront of a free style in nature. Between February 3rd and 8th in the backcountry, competitors will be tested on the best available day and the best overall snowboarder in the world judged.

The list of riders includes: Mark Carter, DCP, Nicolas Müller and Wolfgang Nyvelt, Travis Rice, Jake Blauvelt, John Jackson, Mark Landvik and Terje Håkonsen, Scotty Lago and Kazu Kokubo, as well as 2 wildcards who will be invited from X-Games slopestyle snowboarding event on January 28th in Aspen and the top seeded rider on the TTR Tour.

Judges will look at overall line risk, flow, creativity, amplitude, tricks and control. There is a steep section up in the trees, 2 cliff bands, a 300 foot wide ramp and lower powder park. Judges will look at 2 runs and the top 8 riders will get a bonus run. The best run of the day will determine the overall champ.

Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Hey Shredders,

Here’s a little picture update of what I’ve been up to this winter. The skiing in Aspen is good but backcountry still isn’t ready yet so here’s what I’ve been doing. Pray for snow.

Until next time,

The timing could not have been worse. Only 1 hour after we published Marco Feichtner’s blog post about his possible brush with death, I received the sad news that Canadian freeskier Sarah Burke passed away. She sustained injuries to her head in the Park City Halfpipe 9 days ago.

The Shred and Slytech family is so very grieved by this news and sends their heartfelt condolences to the ones who were close with Sarah, especially her family, friends, and the ski community.

Facebook and Twitter posts are indicating a flood of support and condolences. Sarah Burke will be missed.

We removed Marco’s post for the time being and pay our respect to Sarah. Thank you Sarah for the years of thrilling action.
